About Karen Gjerdrum Fothergill

Education & Background

Karen was raised in Santa Maria California and moved east to obtain her undergraduate degree from Vassar College in New York. She returned home after graduation to work at a local nonprofit. She then moved to North Carolina to obtain her law degree from the Wake Forest University School of Law, where she was a member of the school’s Moot Court and served as an Executive Member of the Moot Court Board. Upon graduation, Karen returned home to the Central Coast to begin her legal career. Andre, Morris & Buttery named her a principal of the firm in January 2014.

Karen is admitted to practice in the courts of the State of California, the United States District Court for the Central District of California and the United States Supreme Court. She is a member of the San Luis Obispo Bar Association, the Northern Santa Barbara County Bar Association, and the American Bar Association.

Business & Community

Karen takes pride in serving her hometown community. Over the last decade, she has served on the boards and as officers of several local nonprofits. She currently sits on the Board of the Santa Maria Chamber of Commerce.
